The best — and worst — signs from the Pitt, Penn State game

Harambe made more than one appearance. Some signs brought people together, while — surprise! — others went too far.

Pitt and Penn State fans had 16 years to perfect their insults, pent-up rivalry and trash talk — and it showed Saturday.

There were high-fives among fellow fans and boos for opposing ones. The “We are Penn State” and “Let’s go Pitt” chants grew louder as fans moved from tailgates to Heinz Field.

And then there were the signs. We’ve collected a few of the more colorful ones for you.

Can’t we all just get along?

Both Pitt and Penn State fans can support some things, no matter the score (which, in case you missed it, was 42-39 Pitt).

Harambe. Of course.

Some times the reasons for rivalries make sense. Other times, it’s just about making the other side look bad — with help from Harambe.

Too far? Too far.

Some Pitt fans’ jeers leaned on former Penn State football coach Jerry Sandusky’s sexual assault conviction.
