These were the 29 hottest books at the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh in 2016

Minimalism and movie adaptions ruled.

Sarah Anne Hughes

Pittsburgh discovered the magic of minimalism and caught up on books adapted for the big screen in 2016.

The Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh sent The Incline the names of the adult fiction and nonfiction books (all formats) and ebooks that readers in Allegheny County checked out the most in 2016. Topping the fiction lists are two novels that were adapted into movies released this year: Paula Hawkins’ The Girl on the Train (starring Emily Blunt) and Jojo Moyes’ Me Before You (starring Emilia Clarke and Sam Claflin).

On the nonfiction side, locals were reading Marie Kondo’s The LifeChanging Magic of Tidying Up (and presumably getting rid of all their junk) and When Breath Becomes Air, a memoir by the late neurosurgeon Paul Kalanithi.
