Update, 10 a.m. June 26: Voting this round has closed.
It’s tacos vs. hot dogs in the championship of the Ultimate Pittsburgh Food truck bracket.
Las Chicas advanced over South Side BBQ with 83 percent of the vote in combined online and in-person voting, while Hott Dawgz defeated Sugar and Spice Ice Cream Truck with 63 percent of the vote. But it wasn’t without some lighthearted teasing from truck to truck.
Despite rainy weather, the trucks all came together for our food truck roundup Wednesday, where South Side BBQ earned the most in-person votes.
It turns out the Final Four are a tight-knit group.
So who will claim the trophy and bragging rights that go with the title of Ultimate Pittsburgh Food Truck?
Will it be Hott Dawgz? The truck barely advanced out of the first round with 52.2 percent of the vote over Pittsburgh Po’boy. Hott Dawgz truly pulled ahead in the Elite Eight, winning with 85 percent of the vote over fellow hot dog eatery Franktuary.
Or will it be Las Chicas? The truck has long been in the most-voted in category: tacos. In the first round, the truck won with 66 percent of the vote over Edgar’s Best Tacos and had at least 75 percent of the vote in the Sweet Sixteen (76 percent), Elite Eight (88 percent) and Final Four (83 percent).
It’s up to you to decide between the two. Make sure to vote for the champion by filling out the form below, or vote here by 10 a.m. Monday, June 26. The winner will be announced next week.
