Pittsburgh journalist Colin Deppen today joined The Incline as a reporter/curator — rounding out a civically minded editorial team that loves the city.
“I’m thrilled to be joining The Incline at a time when both the City of Pittsburgh and the profession of journalism are undergoing immense and exciting changes,” Colin said. “The Incline is embracing these changes in new and interesting ways, and I look forward to cataloging this unique chapter in Pittsburgh history with my new colleagues here.”
Colin comes to The Incline from PennLive.com, where he led its westward expansion into Pittsburgh as a trending and enterprise reporter covering everything from the river transport industry to Mayor Bill Peduto’s relationship with Uber executives. He nabbed three Keystone Press Awards this year from the Pennsylvania News Association for best feature writing, best personality profile and best series.
“Colin brings to The Incline a solid and respected background in Pittsburgh reporting and a commitment to our vision,” Editor Lexi Belculfine said. “We all are thrilled to welcome Colin to the team just in time for our one year anniversary.”
He previously worked with PennLive.com in Lancaster and at The Bradford (Pa.) Era and The St. Marys (Pa.) Daily Press.
Colin, a New York City native and Hunter College alumnus, will live in Squirrel Hill. He is father to a 3-year-old daughter, Rory, and fiancé to Courier-Express reporter/editor and supermom Katie Weidenboerner.
