👋 Welcome [back]!

🍕 The fun-to-say Alta Via Pizzeria is serving up pies in Bakery Square Tuesday through Sunday as of April.

🇬🇷 Anthos Greek Bakery and Café is now open in Castle Shannon. In addition to classic dishes, the bakery will be cranking out treats like cinnamon pecan monkey bread.

🍺 Coven Brewing has cast its spell on Roundabout’s former digs on Butler St. The brewery is now open Wednesday through Saturday.

🍺 Sly Fox Brewing Company has soft-opened its Highline location. They’ll celebrate their grand opening later in the month.

Square Cafe is back in Regent Square with a second location, Square One. The Cafe had previously moved from Regent Square to East Liberty in 2020.

🍞 The Vandal in Lawrenceville has reopened after a renovation. The sandwich shop has removed their coffee-turned-wine bar in favor of more open seating and a “European casual” menu.

🍗 Wings Over is opening a Pittsburgh location in East Liberty. They’ll soft open May 11 before a full opening mid-May.

😀 See you soon

🇦🇷 Balvanera plans an Argentine brasserie in the Strip this fall. The couple opening the restaurant has Pittsburgh roots and New York City experience from their location in Manhattan.

🍷 City Winery will open a Pittsburgh location in the late fall at the Terminal development. The wine bar will feature live music.

🍔 Moonlit Burgers, the popular Dormont smashburger spot, is opening a location near Duquesne University. The burger joint will occupy the former Red Ring location on Forbes.

🥪 Primo Hoagies is opening a location on Penn Avenue downtown. They’re due to welcome diners July 1.

🏨 The Distrikt Hotel is becoming the Joinery Hotel and will feature restaurant concept T&E downstairs. Butler Hospitality plans a summer 2022 opening for the elevated American eatery, which currently has one location open in Chicago.

😭 Goodbye

🍛 B52 in Upper Lawrenceville has closed. The well-trafficked Middle Eastern vegan spot had become too much for the owner, who will be focusing instead on the Allegro Hearth plant-based bakery in Squirrel Hill.

🥬 In a further blow to Pittsburgh vegans, Reed & Co. shuttered on April 22. The juice bar and takeout spot weathered the pandemic but was doomed by “tough math” that followed flooding issues at the building.

🍺 The Golden Age Lager Fest at THIS IS RED in Munhall will see a variety of local brewhouses share their finest lager beers with accompaniment by local musicians.

🇬🇷 The Greek Food Festival at St. Nicholas Cathedral is going on now through May 7.

💃 Kaya’s Kayafest is back with a block party that will fill Smallman Street with street food and samba on May 29.
