Score a movie poster for your wall

A two-day event at the Hollywood Theater is dedicated to the art of the movie poster. On Friday, a preview will offer everybody who attends their choice of a free poster from the theater's storehouse (while supplies last) and a screening of the documentary "24x36: A Movie About Movie Posters." Friday's event is $10. Saturday's movie poster auction is free to attend.

Celebrate Christmas in July with ‘Gremlins’

The Hollywood Theater is offering a free screening of the 1980s classic "Gremlins" as part of Dormont Main Street's Christmas in July. There are no tickets for the event — it's first-come, first-served with doors opening at 3:30 p.m.

Celebrate the Hollywood Theater’s birthday

It's the theater's 91st birthday and that comes with prizes and a special screening of "Bob Roberts." Tickets include the movie, food, non-alcoholic drinks and five raffle tickets. More raffle tickets plus beer and wine will be available for purchase. Movie starts at 8:30 p.m.

See a one-day screening of ‘1984’

See the film version of the classic dystopian novel "1984." The Hollywood Theater is one of more than 180 theaters showing the movie on the same day that character Winston Smith began his journal: April 4th. A discussion facilitated by the ACLU of Pa follows the movie. A portion of all ticket sales go the Dormont Public Library.

Second annual Noir Night Out

See the quintessential film noir "Double Indemnity" from 1944 on 35 mm. Plus there's chili (both meat and veggie) made by local restaurants and home chefs. Pair it with a craft beer from Church Brew Works. Doors open at 6 p.m., film starts at 7 p.m.
