What What does "preservation" mean to you? This story slam invites Pittsburghers to share a 10-minute story on this theme. The slam runs in conjunction with the art show "Significantly Pittsburgh," examining historic Pittsburgh buildings in the process of preservation. The top story will win a framed original artwork. Anybody interested in speaking is asked to email the event organizer in advance.

Watch the film ‘Pride’ at a Labor Day screening

What The Pittsburgh Democratic Socialists of America will host a screening of the 2014 comedy-drama "Pride." The film chronicles the story of the Lesbians and Gays Support the Miners campaign and documents the support LGBT activists gave to the 1984 British miners' strike.

Celebrate at a weekend-long festa Italiana

What At this multi-day festival, eat Italian foods, play bocce, see a pizza stretching demonstration, and watch (or participate in) Italian Idol. Dubbed as the region’s largest heritage festival, Little Italy Days has been a Pittsburgh tradition for more than a decade. The festivities run from noon to 9 p.m. Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday.
