What Pittsburgh is talking about

Fourteen people were arrested during protests against President Donald Trump’s visit to Downtown Pittsburgh yesterday. Trump was in town to speak at the annual Shale Insight Conference at the convention center. City police said 14 demonstrators were taken into custody after blocking the ramp from the Fort Pitt Bridge and refusing to move. (KDKA-TV)

Heeeee’s out! Frank Coonelly, that is. After lots of drama and another stinky season, Coonelly has resigned as president of the Pirates. “Results matter and our results simply were not acceptable. It was clear that change was necessary,” Coonelly said. (WTAE)

Well, that was short-lived. After just three weeks, food delivery robots at Pitt have gotten the boot because of accessibility and safety issues. For example, a student in a wheelchair was trapped on Forbes Avenue because a Starship robot was blocking the only accessible sidewalk entrance. Pitt asked Starship to pause testing for further review. (90.5 WESA)

Ever want to meet up with somebody in a place that’s nicer than a Starbucks but not quite as fancy as the Duquesne Club? There’s a new Downtown social club trying to fill that void. The Americus Club, located inside the Beauty Shoppe co-working space, will offer a members-only social club with events like craft cocktail happy hours and catered dinners. (Pittsburgh Post-Gazette)

😏 Make the “moose” out of membership

We’re partnering with New Sun Rising to give one lucky Incline member a pair of tickets to the 3rd Annual Moo-Ha Halloween Fundraiser on Friday, Nov. 1.

The Millvale Moose Lodge will be transformed into a chilling haunted forest for a dance party with raffles, a tarot card reader, and a demonic moose on the loose.

Not a member yet? No worries. You can join our member community for just $8 a month and get your chance to win.
