After a back-and-forth of will he or won't he, President Donald Trump announced Thursday that he plans to impose a 25 percent tariff on steel imports and a 10 percent tariff on imported aluminum, Bloomberg Politics reported. Trump said he expects to sign the formal order next week and said the move was to protect national security. But it drew criticism within the GOP and from other countries around the world.
Former Vice President Joe Biden is coming to the Pittsburgh area in support of 18th Congressional District Candidate Conor Lamb. Biden will attend a rally with union members and appear at an event at Robert Morris University on Tuesday, reported the Post-Gazette. Lamb's campaign has previously downplayed visits from Democrats on the national stage, but was happy to share this one, with Lamb saying in a statement that he's grateful for Biden's support. Meanwhile, current Vice President Mike Pence asked for campaign donations for candidate Rick Saccone in an email blast on Thursday, per TribLive. Pence touted Saccone's commitment to Trump's agenda and asked for donations of “$25, $50, $100 or whatever you can afford.”
On Saturday, maker space HackPGH is having an open house to show off its more than 2,000 square feet of added space and celebrate nine years in Pittsburgh. But it's not the only maker space in town that's growing. Protohaven, the space created by former TechShop members, is having an open house next week.
