Until my mom and I started reading "Harry Potter" together before bedtime, I never loved reading (or writing), but that all changed when I flew into a world of heroic underdogs and smart heroines. I'll forever be grateful that those seven books brought to life the magic of reading for me. It's also why I'm so pumped about WizardVue on Saturday in Bellevue — and this super dorky headline that I got to write.
Survivors of Pa. priest sex abuse shared their stories. "The collar is still a trigger for me," one woman said. "They murdered something in me. Something died. Everything I believed, died." Attorney General Josh Shapiro’s statewide investigation into more than 300 priests in six Catholic diocese is expected to be released any day. (CBS News)
- Gov. Tom Wolf said in a recent radio interview that Pennsylvania isn't ready for recreational marijuana. Many members of his party think differently. That includes the auditor general, General Assembly legislators, and Wolf's own running mate, Braddock Mayor John Fetterman. While Wolf doesn't support legal weed, his administration is growing the state's medical marijuana program.
- The Smithfield Street Bridge and East and West Carson streets have reopened after Sunday's train derailment, and the Port Authority said it's discovered "extensive damage" to its light rail tracks. (Post-Gazette)
- Koch money is entering the Pa. governor's race, with Americans for Prosperity backing Scott Wagner. (Post-Gazette)
- Pennsylvania Republican Party says Democrats went too far when they handed out free Steelers gear at the Fayette County Fair. (TribLive)
