In October, the city's Art Commission recommended that the statue of Stephen Foster in Oakland be removed within six months, effectively setting an April deadline. On Tuesday, the mayor's office confirmed to The Incline that it's on track to meet that timeframe for the statue to be removed. Although the topic of debate for decades, the discussion about if the statue should stay or not was reignited this summer following violence in Charlottesville, Va.
Amazon plans to add 125 jobs in machine translation and speech science in Pittsburgh, TribLive reported. The new jobs will more than double Amazon's tech-focused staff in Pittsburgh. The company will also add 22,000 square feet to its office in SouthSide Works where staff "works on translating shopping content and entertainment into multiple languages" and helped create Amazon Translation, per TribLive.
