With hours left before the James Street Gastropub & Speakeasy closes its doors for good, many are already mourning the loss of the storied North Side jazz venue. James Street's owners say they grew tired of noise complaints leveled by disgruntled neighbors and the citations and warnings from state officials that often ensued. Locally, there are still only suspicions about who's been behind the anonymous campaign, and, as a result, the questions raised by James Street's closing are likely to continue well after the final notes sound. Those will come tonight during a sold out performance by Roger Humphries and his band, the RH Factor, that wraps at around midnight Sunday.
After two weeks of championship voting, Vincent’s Pizza Park racked up 77 percent of the vote total, trouncing Brookline-famous Fiori’s Pizzaria in a landslide and earning the title of Pittsburgh’s Ultimate Pizza. Staff at the North Braddock pizza shop gleefully accepted the award Friday, thanking their ardent fans and reminiscing about the man behind the dough: Vincent himself.
