It started as a required project. But then, it became something that a pair of Pittsburgh women wanted to build on and grow. They're still working to expand the reach of "Strong Ladies, Advance Your Year" — or SLAYY for short — and to collaborate with existing organizations, as well as to add a smartphone app that will connect single moms to each other.
Pittsburgh's air quality is getting better — even if it's still not great. 90.5 WESA reports that "Complete 2016 data for particulates will not be available for a few months, but ozone monitor readings show Pittsburgh only broke federally-set limits five times in 2016." Only five times! Happy day!
Supporters of Martin Esquivel Hernandez now include religious, civic and political leaders, who are seeking leniency from federal prosecutors as he is scheduled for trial next week. So first Terry Bradshaw called the Steelers' Mike Tomlin a "cheerleader guy." Then the coach hit back: "Terms like 'cheerleader guy,' to me, maybe fall outside the bounds of critique or criticism. They probably fall more to the area of disrespect or unprofessional. But what do I know? I grew up a Dallas fan. Particularly a Hollywood Henderson fan." Ouch. Meanwhile, the Stillers are doing OK.
