Celebrate George Romero and his films

What It's October (arguably the spookiest month of the year), so naturally Row House Cinema is celebrating the works of Pittsburgh's favorite master of scares: George Romero. The week-long celebration continues Saturday with showings of "Knightriders," "Creepshow," "Season of the Witch," "Day of the Dead" and "Night of the Living Dead." Watch the film ‘Pride’ at a Labor Day screening

What The Pittsburgh Democratic Socialists of America will host a screening of the 2014 comedy-drama "Pride." The film chronicles the story of the Lesbians and Gays Support the Miners campaign and documents the support LGBT activists gave to the 1984 British miners' strike.

Experience a glamorous night of cinema

What It's an extra-special, extra-glamorous edition of the Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership's Rooftop Shindig series. The evening includes a screening of the 1932 Greta Garbo and Ramon Novarro spy thriller, “Mata Hari," along with entertainment by Phat Man Dee and a vintage fashion market. The event kicks off at 5:30, with entertainment beginning at 6, and the movie at dusk. Guests are encouraged to bring their own seating or blanket.

Celebrate the Hollywood Theater’s birthday

What It's the theater's 91st birthday and that comes with prizes and a special screening of "Bob Roberts." Tickets include the movie, food, non-alcoholic drinks and five raffle tickets. More raffle tickets plus beer and wine will be available for purchase. Movie starts at 8:30 p.m.
