President Donald Trump signed an executive order Jan 27. that suspends the refugee program for 120 days, stops resettlement of Syrian refugees in the U.S. indefinitely and bans citizens of seven predominantly Muslim countries from entering the U.S. Protests broke out at airports nationwide, including PIT, as DHS and Customs officials enforced the order.
They joined Academics United rallies happening across the country.
“I need to see more interest from them in our communities, both locally and internationally,” Peduto said.
Husni Almoubayyed is one of an estimated 100-plus international students affected by the ban in Pittsburgh.
More than a hundred people showed up to protest President Trump’s immigration and refugee executive order.
