What Pittsburgh is talking about

Want a peek inside Pittsburgh’s hottest tech companies? Check out the new Tech Crawl series launching tonight.

Networking group Build412 Tech wants to give residents and tech enthusiasts a look at the innovation communities popping up around Pittsburgh with this new event, NEXTpittsburgh reports.

Tonight’s crawl will hit Downtown businesses like the Beauty Shoppe coworking space, Truefit software, and RedShift digital marketing. It’s free with registration here. Considering all the national attention Pittsburgh’s tech scene gets, this is a great chance to see it with your own eyes.

Can’t make this one? Future crawls are planned for the East End, the Strip District, and Lawrenceville. And we have to recommend a future event in Braddock, where tech companies are being lured from Silicon Valley to the Mon Valley.

In other news …

What’s even scarier than goblins and ghosts? Government permitting. ScareHouse’s Strip District location is pushing back opening day again while it waits on permits for restrooms and emergency exits. Originally scheduled to open in September, ScareHouse now plans to open Oct. 18 and will stay open after Halloween. (Pittsburgh Post-Gazette)

In this new class, you can build a coffin and use it as a piece of furniture until you need it to be, you know, an actual coffin. Seriously. In the meantime, you can use the DIY coffin as a bookcase or a coffee table, or so suggest the organizers. (NEXTpittsburgh)

“The immaculate confection!” and other Pittsburgh-themed candy bars are coming to a Giant Eagle near you. The aptly named “Yinzer Bars” indulge Pittsburghers’ sense of humor, local pride, and sweet tooth. Other candy bar designs read “Yinz gahtta try dis!” and our personal favorite: “Inclined to satisfy your sweet tooth!” (TribLive)

Here’s your clue: You could call this a literal art house. You could also call it a sign of changing times.

Know where this one is? Hit reply to this email. The first person to guess it correctly gets a free month of Incline membership.

Check back tomorrow for the answer.
